This is my first Brynne Asher and I LOVED it. Can’t wait to go and dive into her backlist.
I started this one blind, which is very much unlike me. I’m a spoiler fan- I typically search out two star reviews just to find spoilers before I start reading. For me, the joy I find in reading is usually in how the story is told and the emotions I feel while reading, but I usually don’t need to be surprised for this, and usually I enjoy books more when I know what’s coming – especially for certain elements that might be within. When someone tells me, “you have to go in blind for this one” I usually get annoyed and find it condescending. But seriously, I’m so glad I went in blind on this one. I absolutely loved everything about it. I rarely find myself surprised at books – usually you can see the twist coming way in advance – but for this one, I was left guessing the whole way through and I think part of what made this such a good book was that I had no clue what was going to be happening.
I love that this is a duet, and there is another book left for me to read, but what’s awesome is this is not a cliffhanger in any way. This book is a standalone and the next book is about the heroine’s sister.
