Realistic, slow burn, steamy friends to lovers story!
I love the depth to the characters that you get when you read a Katerina Winters book. You get to really know them and what they are thinking and how they feel and no matter what the subject is or the plot, it’s done in a way where it feels like it’s really happening and these are real people. I love good slow burns, and friends to lover stories, so this was definitely right up my alley.
The tricky part for me though is how it develops. Early on you get a glimpse that both Cade and Maritzia have deep feelings for each other, but that they both have had significant others and the timing hasn’t been right. As a reader, this left me not able to fully enjoy when they did finally get together, because I felt both carried a fair amount of blame for the failure of those relationships and it was never fully acknowledged or addressed in a satisfying way.
At the same time, I very much loved reading about their love story and how they finally, after so many years, are able to get their Happy Ever After. I would even love to read about Maritzia’s brothers or cousin getting their own Happy Ever After!
