⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was such a sweet, small town, slow burn romance that just gives you all the “feels”.
This is the first in a new series and it connects with the Hope Valley series. Cheyanne/Sawyer has not had an easy time of it. Her parents were died when she was very young, she was separated soon after from her twin sister, the relatives who raised her were not all loving or caring, and because of this she jumped into a relationship with someone who turned out to be not just toxic, but incredibly dangerous for her. Since then she has made a new life, and new identity, for herself in Whitecap. She is raising her daughter, Renee and has made a family of friends that she loves.
Trent lands in Whitecap while on a mission to find his best friend’s long lost sister, and there he meets Cheyanne/Sawyer, the object of his search. Things begin to get complicated when he immediately feels attraction for her, and things become personal as he starts to have feelings for not just Cheyanne/Sawyer, but her daughter Renee as well. Lines begin getting crossed.
This was a slow burn, sweet, small town romance that also brought back some familiar characters from the Hope Valley series, and it also had just the right amount of intrigue and suspense to keep me waiting to see what would happen next and how everything would work out.
This is a standalone – you don’t have to have read any of her other books to enjoy it – in fact – somehow I had missed reading the book that featured Chayenne/Sawyer’s long lost sister and Trent’s best friend, Playing for Keeps! I can’t wait to read the next in the Whitecap series, and will certainly dive right into Playing for Keeps while I’m waiting.
I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book and have voluntarily left an honest review.
Born and raised around Houston, Jessica is a self proclaimed caffeine addict, connoisseur of inexpensive wine, and the worst driver in the state of Texas. In addition to being all of these things, she’s first and foremost a wife and mom.
Growing up, she shared her mom and grandmother’s love of reading. But where they leaned toward murder mysteries, Jessica was obsessed with all things romance.
When she’s not nose deep in her next manuscript, or binging on sit-coms, you can usually find her with her kindle in hand.
While Jessica loves writing series, almost all of her books can be read as standalones. She prides herself on having a little something for everyone.
From fun romantic comedies to angst-filled page turners, to emotional, contemporary small town romances, you’ll definitely find a story you’re bound to love.
