This is not only now my favorite book by Tijan, but also my top read so far for 2021 .
I INHALED this book. I started this very early in the morning, on a day when my to do list was too big for the hours in the day, and thought I’d just read for a few minutes before getting out of bed. BIG MISTAKE. I ended up reading any chance I could when I wasn’t working, it was just that good. If I could have called off work, I would have. THAT GOOD. I LOVED THIS BOOK!
This is a standalone mafia book and probably one of the darkest I’ve seen from her yet. Definitely be aware of triggers, there are mentions of trafficking, drugs, rape and lots of murder and mayhem. The heroine is a rape survivor.
The heroine, Girl, started working for the mafia after her sister was taken. Raize, her current boss, won her in a poker game. Their chemistry is intense and hot. He is ruthless, cold, no qualms about killing and uber protective. This is an enemies to lovers, but not one of those where the heroine is fighting with the hero every step of the way. If you love an uber protective her who can take of his heroine, mafia books and everything that goes along with them, and lots of chemistry and steam, then this is most definitely for you!
