This is a slow burn romance that had quite a bit of action in it.
Loved this romance. I really enjoy all the Henchmen and what I enjoy most is that despite the number of books in the Henchmen world, they are still very different. Cary is older, but joined up with the next generation. In his earlier years he did time in jail and during one of those stretches he had a pen pal, Abigail. Abigail grew up in a religious “cult” and as part of missionary work she started writing to Cary while he was in jail. She has not lived a great life and when the story opens she is making an escape from an abusive and dangerous situation. The only one she knows that might be able to help her stay out of this situation is Cary so she tracks him down and shows up on his doorstep looking for his guidance.
Watching as Cary and Abigail dance around each other, forced to spend a lot of time together, and reading how their relationship grows was great. This is a slow burn romance that had quite a bit of action in it. As usual, we get glimpses of other henchmen whose stories I now can’t wait for (Dezi) and we spent time with Andres, not part of the MC but from a cartel, and I am now desperately wanting his story!
