This was scorching hot, suspenseful, angsty romance!
In bringing to us a brand new branch of the Shady Velley Henchmen, we are introduced to a whole new group of characters – all of whom I’m hoping will get their own books in the future. I loved everything about this first installment to the new series! When we first meet Judge, he is being released from prison. During his time away, his old organization has gone by the wayside and he has gotten an offer to join the newly formed Shady Valley Henchmen. Delaney works at the bar owned by her very over protective brothers. Judge is someone she had always had a crush on, so when he walks into her bar and asked if she wanted to leave with him, she didn’t even have to think about it and walked with him. This is the start of a very complicated romance because her brothers aren’t someone you mess around with and they do not want Judge having anything to do with her.
Romances that start with a one night stand are for some reason incredibly appealing to me, and this one definitely didn’t disappoint. You have the situations with her over protective brothers to deal with – all of whom I’m hoping we get a story for in the future- and Judge prospecting for the MC and trying his best to toe the line, but also being unable to fit the draw he feels to Delaney. I loved the angst you get from even just the start of this book with Delaney going off with Judge for a night with her long time crush, for him really just to crush her in the end. We have a lot to contend with as the Henchmen are trying to get their start, Delaney also finds herself facing some danger, and then we have a lot of scorching hot scenes between Delaney and Judge, who shows himself to be one seriously jealous, protective hero. If you love any of this, this one is for you. Jessica Gadziala never seems to let me down with a book one can lose themselves in.
