Loved this – emotional with lots of action!
Romeo is a delight, filled with explosive action alongside moments that are incredibly emotional. Sailor, lost in a well of grief, has gotten herself into a situation with no easy way out. Roark, after surviving a crash in the Marines, has tried to keep himself away from dangerous missions ever since, but when he comes upon Sailor he finds himself swept right into everything he had been avoiding for years.
Sailor and Romeo, very different in many ways, were both dealing with the outcome of what happens when someone you love dies and you are left reeling in grief and guilt. This was definitely a case of Insta-Lust and the chemistry and heat between them was apparent from the very beginning. Romeo is suspenseful, the action is non-stop, and although it is a slow burn romance, there is definitely a lot of heat along the way. I’m not one that usually cries when reading books, no matter what I’m reading on the page, or in the stories, but with this one there were definitely points where I felt on the verge. The Acknowledgement at the end is so moving and touching that I did find myself crying. There are definitely moments in this story that are relatable for anyone who has experienced this kind of loss and grief. Sybil Bartel did a phenomenal job of writing a character lost in grief, but managing to keep it from being depressing or a struggle to read. This was so well done and enjoyable.
