Loved this angsty rejected mate story!
Cate C Wells writing style really clicks for me. She has a way of writing characters and stories where you get full, complex layered characters. One of my favorite tropes is rejected mates – especially where the fated mates wind up together in the end. There aren’t a ton of these out there so to find an author writing an entire series of them brings me such joy. The Heir Apparent’s Rejected Mate opens with Cadoc and Rosie in school together, in the same pack, but worlds apart. Cadoc is to be the next alpha and is a part of the elite in the pack. Rosie is a scavenger, so low in the pack as to not even rank. Their mating is a political nightmare for Cadoc, so he publicly rejects her. I loved the time spent setting up these characters, their lives and the people that surround them. I loved how we get to see a very jealous, protective and caring hero who also makes some colossal mistakes on the way to their Happy Ever After. I love angsty books, thus my love of rejected mate books. We get some serious angst in this one, but we also get some amazing grovel. Cate C Wells has definitely hit it out of the park with The Heir Apparent’s Rejected Mate.
