Sweet, second-chance love story.
This a sweet, second chance, small town romance. Brett and Kelly had crossed paths previously, but Brett was left hurt when Kelly took off. Kelly treated Brett and what they had as very casual with no depth, but Brett had strong feelings for Kelly and it’s taken him a while to get over those. Now Kelly is back in town, looking like she hasn’t been well and not all acting like her usual self. Brett tries to stay away, but eventually they begin finding a way back to each other.
I really enjoyed this lighthearted, sweet read. Although Kelly is recovering from a heavy, toxic situation, the story itself is a very sweet one. Kelly has never known what a real home is like and has only known how to keep moving forward, almost running. Brett has never felt the need to really leave his hometown. Reading about how they are able to work their issues makes for an entertaining story and I really enjoyed the mix of their story while also catching up with and seeing some of the characters from the previous books.
