Review: Power Play by Amelia Wilde

Amelia Wilde really knows how to write emotional, angsty scenes that leave you on edge, desperate to see what will happen next. These are my favorite kind of books. I had been wanting to read about Gabriel, and more of Elise, ever since we first met them in the Wealth Trilogy, and this first book of their trilogy definitely doesn’t disappoint. Elise and Gabriel both have traumatic and tragic backgrounds and are incredibly similar in many ways, yet don’t realize it themselves. As the story opens it appears that they both hate each other, yet really they both need each other in ways they don’t fully comprehend. My favorite kinds of books are ones that bring up powerful emotions and leave me with deep feelings for the characters and you get that here in spades! If you are a fan of angsty, emotional and steamy stories, then this is definitely for you. I do wish that it was easier to determine from the outset that the book is not a standalone and how many books will be in the series. If you are an Amelia Wilde fan, then you know going in it most likely will end on a cliffhanger, but it took a little too much work to suss out if this would be a duet or a trilogy and the series name.
