Angsty, intense romance that delves into difficult topcis.
When I read High Roller, I had lots of questions about Kiki and Matt and was intrigued by the things hinted at with them, so jumped at the chance to read Buy-In. This book tackles some serious topics and veers into some dark territory as the characters deal with absent and damaging parents, eating disorders, teen pregnancy and student/teacher relationships. This author is a really good writer and is able to seamlessly weave into the romance these hard and difficult topics, and they are not glossed over. Although I enjoyed Buy-In, I was frustrated at several points with Matt and Kiki circling through the same push and pull several times, and the entitlement and careless disregard for others was too much at times. These characters do finally grow and learn by the end of the book and find their way to a happy ever after. This was 3.5 stars for me!
