Loved this compelling romantic thriller!
Deep Tide is the perfect mix of a procedural mystery and a romantic suspense. When the story opens we meet Leyla who is catering her brother’s wedding. It’s clear from the start that there is a spark and chemistry between Leyla and Sean, one of her brother’s friends. Sean is not only in town for the wedding, but also for work – although being low key about that aspect. When one of her employees is found murdered outside her café the morning after the wedding, Leyla becomes caught up in the mystery. We not only follow along with Leyla and Sean, but also Nicole who is the lead detective on the case, and whom I’m hoping will get her own book at some point. I really enjoyed this one and thought the romantic aspects were a little more front and center than they sometimes are in a mystery and suspense. Although this is the fourth in a series, with the previous two focusing on Leyla’s brothers, this reads as a standalone. Despite not reading any of the previous ones in this series I could follow along with no problem and now those books are next up in my to be read pile. Deep Tide is compelling and firmly establishes this author as one of my favorites.
