Loved this fast-paced, intense, mafia romance!
This is probably my favorite book of the series so far. I was completely hooked in from the beginning and read this straight through – not wanting to put it down for any reason. Cotton has just been released from active military service after serving several years. She is on her way back to her hometown to regroup before setting off in the next chapter of her life. When we are introduced to her we know something big and tragic has occurred that has left her with anxiety attacks and fear of letting anyone in on what happened because it could put their lives at risk. We also meet Brodie, an enforcer for the mafia who had helped to keep Cotton’s best friend safe not too long ago when her life was at risk. Brodie is enamored with Cotton on his first glimpse of her, only to find not long after this that she is also his next assignment.
What follows is a fast-paced, intense mafia romance. We have intrigue, mystery and lots of chemistry and steam. I really loved how these characters are written and how this story plays out and I can’t wait to see what comes next in this world. One of my favorite kind of romances is where one of the characters has to overcome something and we get to see them work through this together. I liked that it didn’t magically occur and how we see their characters grow over the course of the story. I’m hoping we get books for Kael and Twiggy along the way!
