Second chance small town romance.
Better than Most is a sweet, second chance small town romance. I really loved The Least Amount of Awful and this story takes place in that same world. Georgia and Rhodes had a secret love affair when they were in high school. Rhodes was Georgia’s brother best friend and two years older than Georgia. After graduating high school, he breaks it off with her and takes off out of town. Neither of them have gotten over this and nearly a decade later they both wind up back in town dancing around each other, literally.
This was a sweet romance with low angst. Both Georgia and Rhodes have have struggled at times with family dysfunction and difficulties. Better Than Most is told in alternating Point of Views, with past scenes every so many chapters. I struggled a little with this because we aren’t given the reason for their breakup initially so I had assumed the reason was so much worse than what it actually was and then it seemed like 10 years was a long time to hang on to what seemed like a simple high school breakup. There are more complicated things at play as it turns out. I do love the setting and the cast of characters and enjoyed reading as Georgie and Rhodes rekindle their relationship.
