Inheritance by Nora Roberts

Inheritance has an intriguing premise that reeled me in and kept me turning pages. Sonya has inherited a “haunted” house from an uncle she never knew she had, but the requirements are that she needs to move in and stay for three years in order to inherit. She moves in on her own, only to find that that is accompanied by the house’s ghostly inhabitants. Parts of this were fun and sweet and other aspects downright creepy. I was intrigued to understand what was going on and how it would all play out.

I usually do better when I understand going in what to expect. I’m used to Nora Roberts having interconnected standalone trilogies where there is an overarching plot that doesn’t get resolved until the final book, but each couple’s story is resolved within their book. With this one, it isn’t fully clear to me if we will get other couples in the next two books, or the same couple from this one, and I struggled slightly with that. This one ends on a cliffhanger I didn’t quite see coming and I can’t believe it will be a year before we get the next in the series. Can’t wait!
