Fragile Sanctuary by Catherine Cowles

I loved everything about this first book in the Sparrow Falls series! This one had a little bit of everything. Anson is a grumpy and gruff hero who keeps everyone at bay and personifies the Tortured Heroes I love so much. Rhodes is his exact opposite, everyone she meets becomes a friend and she keeps pushing at Anson’s attempts to keep her out. I loved how they were able to connect through their experiences with loss and grief. Combining this with their chemistry that jumped off the page and it made for a fabulous combination. I love protective heroes, and when Rhodes is facing danger, Anson can’t help but be protective and jump in to keep her safe.

I both listened and read it at the same time, and these narrators were fabulous – they made all of these characters just come alive for me, not just Anson and Rhodes but the entire cast of characters that make up their found family, and some of whom I’m assuming will have their own stories in this series. I can’t wait to read them!
