The Kings of Kearny by Navessa Allen

This was such a different kind of MC book, what a steamy, action packed story! I’ve read a lot of MC books, and this one had a very different feel to it. Despite being set in the MC world, the focus was really not the MC although they were present in all aspects of the story.

Krista works in a bar, whose owner is long-time member of a veterans based MC. Krista, a veteran herself, has no interest in joining the MC, but has an interest in Jakob, their chief enforcer. Krista’s grandmother suffers from Alzheimer’s and is living in a facility that Jakob suspects is running drugs, which is a problem for his MC.

Very quickly Krista becomes embroiled in this situation with Jakob and the action starts up almost immediately and doesn’t let up until the end. Of all the MC books I’ve read, despite the mayhem and illegal activities that make so many of these books over the top, this felt as though it could be real. Jakob and Krista both have their vulnerabilities and issues that they need to work through and these are not romanticized or glossed over in any way. I especially loved that Krista was a strong individual and didn’t need to just rely on Jakob to get herself out of difficult situations. I’m definitely planning to seek out more books by Navessa Allen!
