Angsty but sweet second chance rock star romance!
This is an angsty but sweet second chance romance. Campbell went through a difficult time after his mother’s death and found solace in his friendship that turned to more with Blaire, who also struggled with a difficult family. They kept their relationship quiet, just for them, but when Campbell struck out for LA and the chance to make something of his music, he left behind Blaire and never seemed to look back. Recently he has been spending more and more time back home and is back there for several months and in the same circles that Blaire runs in.
I loved that we get to see them as they spend time together, reconnect and build their relationship again, but I also struggled a bit. You don’t learn of the wrongs Campbell has done Blaire until later in the story, and when you understand the scope of it, I really felt like Campbell needed to have acknowledged those wrongs before he aimed for his second chance with Blaire. At the same time, it was sweet and romantic and you do witness growth by both of them. I also enjoyed glimpses of the groundwork for future books, and can’t wait to go back and read some of the Wright books I haven’t had the chance to read yet. Wright that Got Away is a pleasure to read with the sweet, angsty romance and the depth and layers that the story has.
