The Harsh Bite: Codename: Spithra by Candice Wright

Astrid shows up on Apex doorstep after a vision that shows one of their harm in grave danger. The men all immediately get their guard up and want to protect Salem, which means staying suspicious of Astrid and keeping her with them against her will. Jagger and Slade, who do everything together, take on the task of keeping watch over Astrid and trying to gather more information. The Harsh Bite takes off from here with a mix of steam and angst. Slade, Jagger and Astrid all have pasts that make them slow to trust, which causes lots of problems for this trio. The premise was different and intriguing and I enjoyed reading as the three of them come together. Although you could read this without reading The Brutal Strike, it would be better to start with the first book since this book picks up right were that one left off and there are references throughout the story to things that happened in that book.
