LOVED this novella – great marriage in trouble story!
LOVED reading this novella. Novellas can be tricky for me. You often don’t get enough detail for what I crave in a story, but with this one it worked perfectly for me. One of my favorite tropes, which is scarce, are true marriage in trouble books. Often they are more second chance where the couple have been separated. In this one when it opens, Olivia and Kent are very happily married – for five years now. But between Kent’s work and Olivia’s distress at not falling easily pregnant, they are facing some difficulties.
My one frustration with Falter is that the author chose to have Olivia behaving differently with others due to her inner turmoil over what she was going through. The only problem for me was that I felt her concerns were valid and that she was being treated unfairly and her asks of others – mainly her Uncle – was not at all out of line. I really wanted to see her considerations taken more into account by him. Despite this, Falter was a perfect read for me. I love angsty, emotional romances and you get that in spades here. You also get super hot and steamy scenes. If you are either a fan of Fiona Cole, or angsty, emotional, steamy, marriage in trouble books, then this is something you don’t want to miss.
