Emotional, angsty and steamy!
Lucie is a single mother of twins who has just walked away from her emotionally abusive husband. She is back in a home she spent time in over the years while growing up, looking out the window at the boy she had a crush on for years. The illegitimate product of an affair her tech superstar dad had with her stripper mom, she was raised feeling unwanted and unloved. She planned her escape from her toxic marriage for when she finally had a job, but walks in to find her long-time crush is the CEO and a grump with a bad attitude and her prospects for retaining her employment are not looking quite so certain.
I really enjoyed this story – stayed up late into the night to finish it because I didn’t want to put it down. The chemistry between Lucie and Caleb, her crush, was sizzling and I loved the banter that took place between them. Caleb was in no position to become involved with Lucie for multiple reasons, and tried to deny his interest, which also made him an attractive hero because he kept looking out for her and wanting to try and make things easier and better for her. I also really enjoyed the way the twins were written in this story – watching how they were with Caleb – and how he was with them really added to the story. There was a lot of everything in this story- angst, steam and fun. I can’t wait to dive into more from this author!

Elizabeth O’Roark has a bunch of degrees she does not use and gave up working as a medical writer to craft grumpy, alpha heroes and the flawed women who love them. When not writing, she likes to spend time with her three kids, who are now teenagers and wish she’d find a different way to spend time. She can be found on Facebook feverishly debating whether or not “Die Hard” is a Christmas movie and telling people to read “The Hating Game”, which she did not write but wishes she had.
